Deborah Matis-Engle, a 49 year old woman from Shingletown, California, is now facing a six year sentence after the court in Redding, California found her guilty for driving-while-texting. Deborah Matis-Engle was speeding through 66 mph that plowed to a line of cars causing a terrible road mishap that eventually took away the life of Petra Monika Winn in August 13 2007. It turned out that Mathis-Engle was texting using her cell phone to pay some bills.
According to the Redding website, authorities had proven she was texting after Matis-Engle surrendered her cell phone two days after the accident and based on the phone company records they investigated -- Deborah Matis-Engle was indeed texting when she crashed through those cars she damaged in the highway. The lawyer of this texting crash woman said they will file an appeal after the court decision.
